The 561 will work fine in both freshwater and saltwater, but considering the power rating, it would perform much better in freshwater. It is a great choice for fishing in lakes, rivers, and ponds – and it installs very easily, too. The tilt-and-swivel mount can snap your fish finder on and off with ease – making it very easy to store when you are not using it, too.
If you are a novice user, you can even turn on the Fish ID+ feature, which takes most of the guesswork out of choosing what is a fish and what is something else – the fish finder’s internal software will determine which echo is most likely a fish and display a little fish symbol on it.
